How to prepare for an air duct cleaning

A little preparation makes the visit faster and easier for everyone.

  • Clear the way to vents and returns. Move furniture and décor that block them, including anything fragile on nearby shelves.
  • Show us where the system is. Know how to reach the attic, closet or crawl space that holds your HVAC unit.
  • Secure pets. Keep them in a separate room during the work.
  • Know your filter size. It is a good time to put in a fresh filter when we finish.
  • Write down what you have noticed. Rooms with weak airflow, strange smells and past pest problems all help us look in the right places.

What to ask before work starts

Ask what is included, whether the price covers every vent and return, and whether any chemical product is planned. The EPA advises homeowners to ask about any sanitizer or sealant before it is used. We explain the work before we start.
